History of The Label

This is how the tortoise came to be used as the logo for Stoumann's Wines:

When a specific piece of land had to be tilled for expansion of the vineyards, some tortoises were found. To prevent them from being killed, they were taken to an enclosure close to where the entrance to the cellar was later erected. In cooperation with Nature Conservation they were left there to breed and be relocated from time to time.  Once a year a submission of numbers is made to Nature Conservation.  It is very interesting to see how a female tortoise prepares the space in which her eggs are to be laid, as well as the process of covering them up - just to be left for nature to take its course, until the baby tortoises make their appearance.
